The service
umsite builds a one-page website from the answers you give us, shows you the result before you decide and, once you approve it, publishes it at the address you choose.
umsite is a service of Giant Nerd Automation Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 15567873, with its registered office at 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. Contact: contacto@umsite.pt.
Offer for the first 100
For the first 100 requests, building the site is free (standard price: €59, paid once), as is the first year of the Base plan: hosting is paid for one year from the date the site goes online. In return, when you approve, we ask for two sentences about your experience, permission to show the site as an example (we don't guarantee we'll feature it) and a small “Website by umsite” link in the footer. Without permission to feature the site, building it costs the standard price of €59.
Changes and approval
- Before you approve, you can request changes until the site is how you want it, and go back to an earlier version. There's no limit at this stage (Try it).
- The preview is available for 14 days. You can reopen it if you need more time.
- Nothing goes public until you approve it.
- The text is generated automatically from the information you give us and may contain errors or inaccurate information. Read the site and check the facts (name, address, contact details, opening hours and prices) before approving it. By approving, you confirm that these details are correct and accept responsibility for the content you publish.
- Once the site is online, changes count towards your plan's limit (see Plans). On Base, there are 3 changes in the first 90 days; after that you can buy a pack of 3 for €25, valid for 90 days.
Extras
- Contact form: €15 in the first year. On the Cuidado and Cuidado+ plans the form is included. On Base, from the second year it's included in hosting at no extra cost.
- The extras you choose go into your order and are paid after you approve the site, before it goes online. You can remove them free of charge before paying; the site is rebuilt without them.
- Once paid, you can remove an extra whenever you like, but the amount paid isn't refunded.
- You can also add extras after the site is online; you pay for them at that point.
Domain
You register the domain yourself, in your name, with the registrar of your choice, and pay the registrar directly (about €20 a year for a .pt domain). We help you connect it to the site. If you already have a domain, we copy the email records before connecting it and check they came across unchanged; if we can't, we stop and talk to you. After it's connected, check that you can still send and receive email, and tell us straight away if anything fails. To go back, just restore the previous nameservers at the registrar; we send them to you by email. We suggest registrars, and some pay us a small commission when you buy through our link, at no extra cost to you.
Plans
- Try it: Free preview. No commitment until you approve.
- Base: €59 once (includes the first year of hosting); then €19 a year. The site is yours. 3 changes in the first 90 days. Support: Email, 2 working days.
- Cuidado: €12 a month or €120 a year. 5 changes a month, visitor statistics, the option to restore earlier versions and an alert if your site goes offline. Support: Email, 1 working day.
- Cuidado+: €24 a month or €240 a year. 15 changes a month, email @your-domain and WhatsApp support. Up to 3 email addresses at your domain. Support: Email + WhatsApp, 1 working day.
- VAT included.
Payments
Online payments are made on Stripe's secure page. Stripe sells on our behalf as the merchant of record: it processes the payment and charges the applicable VAT. That's why the payment page shows “Sold by Link”: Link is Stripe's payment service that makes the sale. Plan subscriptions are managed in Stripe's billing portal, from your dashboard.
When the site is yours
The site becomes yours when there is a paid order that includes the build: payment for Base (€59), one of the first 100 free places, the first paid invoice of an annual plan (Cuidado or Cuidado+), or payment of the buyout offer described below. Monthly plans, on their own, don't make the site yours.
Once the site is yours, we'll make all its files available for you to keep, with instructions for moving to another host. You can leave whenever you like and take the site with you.
Cancellation
- The Cuidado and Cuidado+ plans have no minimum term and you can cancel them whenever you like.
- If the site is already yours and you cancel, you move to the Base plan and the site stays online. Hosting remains paid until the end of the current paid period plus one year, and the Cuidado dashboards are no longer available. Any email forwarding rules you've set up remain in place, but the service is no longer managed under the Cuidado+ plan.
- If the site isn't yours yet (monthly plan) and you cancel, we'll email you a buyout offer (€47 on Cuidado, €35 on Cuidado+). The site stays online for 14 days. If you don't pay the buyout amount within that time, the site is paused, but we don't delete it. Paying the buyout amount makes the site yours and moves it to the Base plan.
- On the Base plan, we'll email you before your annual hosting period ends. If you don't renew, the site will be paused after a grace period, but we won't delete it. You can always take the files with you.
- We never pause a site for non-payment without telling you by email at least 3 days in advance.
Email at your domain (Cuidado+)
With Cuidado+ and your own domain connected to our account, you can create up to 3 addresses (for example contact@your-domain.pt) that forward to the email you choose. Forwarding also depends on third-party email services, and we don't guarantee that every message will be delivered. If you cancel and the site is yours, the forwarding rules are kept; if the site is paused, forwarding stops working until the site is back online.
Contact form
The contact form uses our sending service while the site is with us. Messages received stay in your dashboard for 90 days and are then deleted; we handle them on your behalf, only to deliver and display them.
We do our best to deliver every message, but email delivery can fail for reasons outside our control, such as spam filters, full inboxes or errors in the visitor's details. We don't guarantee delivery of every message: provide another way to contact you on the site, such as a phone number or email address, and check your dashboard from time to time.
Acceptable use
We don't publish sites with content that is illegal, misleading, infringes the rights of others or impersonates another person or organisation. We may pause a site in these cases.
Liability
- We do our best to keep sites online and your data secure, but we don't guarantee an uninterrupted service. We keep backups and, if something fails, we restore the site as quickly as possible.
- The site's content (text, photos, logo and business information) is the responsibility of whoever provides and approves it. It's up to you to check that the information is correct before approving and whenever you request a change.
- If you use umsite in your professional activity and the content you gave us (text, photos, logo, trade marks) infringes the rights of others, you are liable to them and will indemnify us for any resulting costs.
- Except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or of harm to life, physical integrity or health, our liability for damages is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to it, or €100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for loss of profits, loss of customers or business, or indirect damages.
- Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Complaints, disputes and governing law
- If something goes wrong, write to us at contacto@umsite.pt. We'll reply within one working day.
- If you are a consumer, you always keep the protection that the law of the country where you live gives you. The Portal do Consumidor (Portuguese consumer portal) has information about your rights and about alternative dispute resolution for consumers.
- These terms are governed by Portuguese law. The Portuguese courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
